Life as a technology entrepreneur is uniquely challenging. Here I would like to share some of my experiences, and observations on life as an entrepreneur – what it is, and what it is not. My hope that is maybe there is a glimmer of a truth in these posts that can help you. Here is to “paying it forward”.
The truth about entrepreneurs is that there is no one universal truth. There are no “rules” for successful entrepreneurship. There is no one formula for success. There are many paths. The myth of the celebrity entrepreneur is just that – a myth. Some ideas work. And some don’t.
The entrepreneur’s challenge is to create the conditions for success – motivated people, high creativity, right solution for the right moment in the market – not too early, not too late, financial stability, market understanding and the many other variables that foster meaningful solutions to big problems.
The entrepreneur is like a conductor in an orchestra – trying to get the most out of each uniquely talented musician to create something really great. She is a coach. She is a leader. And she is a steward.
Most of all – today’s entrepreneur is humble. He knows what he doesn’t know. And he realizes that he is a steward in all respects – of peoples’ ideas, intellect, time, health, money and family. The modern entrepreneur understands that the only way to find “entrepreneurial truth” is through the sharing that grows from humility and purpose.
In that spirit, I will share here some of my learning – both from failure and success. And perhaps you too can pay it forward for the next generation of those few people who have the courage to steward change to the world as entrepreneurs. Here is to hoping that sharing my experience and insights can make a difference for you.
